Total Knee Arthroplasty

About

A Total Knee Arthroplasty is performed on patients suffering from knee pain and disability to restore function. During this procedure, the damaged cartilage and bone are first removed from the knee. The knee prosthesis that will be positioned into the joint consists of three components: the tibial, the femoral, and the patellar component, which are made up of metal and plastic.

What It Treats

A Total Knee Arthroplasty can alleviate pain and/or disability in the knee resulting from a variety of conditions, including arthritis, fractures, instability, or other injuries.
