Endoscopic Posterior Cervical Foraminotomy

About

This endoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive spine surgery that removes pressure on the nerves in the cervical spine. This is used for patients with a pinched nerve in the neck that usually causes neck pain and pain radiating to the arm. A small metal tube is inserted in the back of the neck, allowing direct visualization of the spine. Tiny instruments including shavers, graspers, and laser can be used to remove bone (and if needed any herniated disc material) that is pressing on the nerve. We perform surgery with a tiny incision that closes with one or two absorbable sutures, and patients walk out of a surgery center shortly after the procedure.
