About
Arthroscopic Superior Capsule Reconstruction (ASCR) is done to repair severe rotator cuff damage. Your surgeon will use an arthroscope to see the rotator cuff and clean and remove dead tissue from the tendons. Using a skin graft, they will anchor the tendons back to the bone to patch and repair the rotator cuff capsule.
What It Treats
Arthroscopic Superior Capsule Reconstruction (ASCR) is an option for those with irreversible rotator cuff damage. This could be because there is not enough tissue left to repair the tendon if an old rotator cuff tear is so badly frayed it can’t be repaired, or for chronic tearing after other reconstruction surgery.
