About
During an Arthroscopic ACL Reconstruction, your surgeon will make a very small incision and insert a tiny camera – called an arthroscope – through the side of the knee to see the inside. The damaged ligament is removed and replaced with a segment of the tendon, called a graft. Your surgeon will drill sockets or tunnels into your thigh and shinbone to position the graft, which is then secured to your bones with screws.
What It Treats
ACL Reconstruction is done to replace a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). ACL injuries most commonly occur during sports that involve sudden stops and changes in direction, like soccer or football.
